Consumer prices dropped nearly a full percentage point last month and November’s numbers seem to be following suit. The catalysts for this drop appears to be falling oil prices that have dropped nearly 60 percent from their highs just a few months ago. Not since 1947 has the US seen a drop this large in a single month. Baby Boomers and the generations that followed have lived with inflation throughout their lives. With the exception of an occasional hitch prices have climbed steadily for over 60 years. Not since the deflationary spiral of 1930-33 that led to the Great Depression has this country seen prolonged deflation.
