Now Is The Time To Start Investing In Real Estate

Posted on October 26, 2007 - Filed Under Success Tips Articles | Leave a Comment

For all new investors, structuring your first deal is a traumatic experience. Questions run through your mind like: “What if I miscalculate the numbers?” “What if I can’t get financing?” “What if I make the sellers mad with my offer?” “What if I can’t make the payments if the offer is accepted?” And dozens more! I had these same concerns when I started investing, and you will too. Getting started investing in real estate could be compared to getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time, taking your first flying lesson or even jumping out of an airplane for your first parachute jump.

It Takes Practice To Improve Your Finances

I’m flabbergasted at the number of people who want to play the game, but don’t want to practice. Athletes in every sport love to play the game, but hate to practice. Football players hate to hit tackling dummies, but will gladly give it their best shot in a game. Basketball players hate to run sprints in the gym, but will gladly give it their best shot in a game. Baseball players hate to chase fly balls for hours during practice, but will gladly give it their best shot during a game. Tennis players hate to spend time hitting balls thrown to them by a machine, but gladly give it their best shot during a match. The problem is, their best shot is seldom good enough to win unless they practice.

Don’t Let Credit Card Debt Fence You In

I recently received an email from a friend that contained a story about how to catch wild pigs. It reminded me of the method credit card companies use to capture unsuspecting young people. The story went like this. You find a suitable place in the woods where wild pigs frequent and you put corn out on the ground to attract them. Once they get used to coming to the corn, you put a fence down one side of the area. At first, it keeps them away, but after a few days they get used to the fence being there and start coming back to eat again. You let them become comfortable with this arrangement and then you put a fence down another side. Again, it keeps them away at first, but they get used to the second side being fenced and once again they start coming to eat.

Teach Children That Having Money Is Not Evil

Posted on October 5, 2007 - Filed Under Success Tips Articles | Leave a Comment

When the subject of wealth building comes up in conversations, a lot of people get nervous because they view money as the root of all evil. Perhaps this nervousness is rooted in biblical teachings. I’ll never forget the time several years ago when I was walking past Prichard Park in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, where I live, and I came upon one of our colorful street preachers who had drawn quite a crowd. He was thumping his bible and shouting at the top of his lungs as he extolled the virtues of being poor.
